Welcome to the new website for District VI of the California Park and Recreation Society. Our district represents Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties. Please check visit this website regularly for news about what is happening in District VI. We invite all Park and Recreation professionals in our district to become active in CPRS.

I am proud to serve as your CPRS District VI President in 2008. I am pleased to tell you that the Board is working on many exciting things this year. There are several top priorities that we have identified as a Board for 2008 in order to fulfill our mission of providing you with the tools that you need to be successful in enhancing the quality of life in your communities. Some of these priorities include:
  1. Providing members with the skills and knowledge that they need to succeed: We want to make sure that you have the tools you need to reach your personal and professional goals and do great things for your communities. We plan to do this by providing you with quality training and networking opportunities.
  2. Promoting a shared Mission, Vision, and set of Core Values that brand Parks and Recreation as an essential community service: We hope to accomplish this by ensuring that we all have the tools to understand, articulate, and operate from the core values, vision, and mission set out in the CPRS VIP Action plan. We Strengthen Community Image and Sense of Place, Protect Environmental Resources, Foster Human Development, Promote Health and Wellness, Support Economic Development, and so much more. Our stakeholders need to hear that. We need to start using a common language and make sure that everyone knows that parks and recreation is not dispensable, but that it is a service that is vital to the physical and mental well-being of society. We as a District are determined help get us there.
I am honored to serve as your district VI President in 2008. I am looking forward to a fun and productive year on the Board and I look forward to continuing to create community with you through people, parks and programs.
Mission Statement
